Clinicians can formulate free text structured clinical questions to assist them in finding the latest developments in patient care or clinical research.
The resulting web pages and documents are analyzed for relevance to the clinicians question and ranked by Clinical Reference Score. The clinical relevance is calculated from the following key factors.

• The number of times clinical question search key words appear in the document or web page.
• The proximity – in terms of number of word separations – between clinical question key words in the search result.

The documents and web pages presented in answer to the clinical question are ranked by Clinical Reference Score and shown by source category (medical associations, universities, medical libraries, etc.) so that these may be compared.
