Disease symptoms are entered in free text format into Primary Symptoms and Secondary Symptoms. The Symptom Search Clinical Application assumes that the resulting medical web pages contain descriptions of possible diseases that match the symptoms.
These web pages are analyzed against the Disease Ontology by category of web site. These categories of web sites are defined and configurable in the Medical Knowledge Base.
The number of references to diseases found on the web pages is displayed as shown on the examples. The results are also shown by category of web sites so that these may be compared.
